The Brazilian trade balance was in a surplus of $2,038 billion in the second week of May (from the 8th to the 14th), according to data released by the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC).
The positive balance is the result of exports at $ 4.714 billion and imports of US $ 2.666 billion.
According to the MDIC, the daily average of exports in the second week of the month reached $ 942.8 million – 5.4% above the average of $ 894.9 million observed in the first week of the month. The increase in shipments of manufactured goods (+18.7%, for a daily average of $ 349.7 million) led the positive result.
On the imports side, the daily average fell 17.2% from the first week of the month to $ 535.1 million.
