Consumer inflation falls to 0.31% in the third reading of April against 0.44% in the previous measure, says FGV

The inflation print measured by the Weekly Consumer Price Index (IPC-S) fell to 0.31% in the third reading of April, from 0.44% in the second measurement of the month, according to Getulio Foundation Vargas (FGV).

Out of the eight classes reported by FGV, there were notable declines for Housing (0.36% to -0.09%), Education, Reading and Recreation (0.37% to 0.02%), Food (1.06% to 1.00%), Miscellaneous Expenses (0.54% to 0.34%) and Clothing (-0.64% to -0.66%).

On the other hand, the following groups increased: Communication (-0.39% to 0.30%), Health and Personal Care (0.94% to 0.96%) and Transport (- 0.21% to -0.20%).

The IPC-S is calculated in seven Brazilian capitals: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Recife, Salvador, Porto Alegre and Brasília.
