Brazilian GDP up by 1.31% in February against previous month

Economic activity increased by 1.31% in February compared to the previous month in seasonally adjusted terms, according to the Central Bank’s Economic Activity Index (IBC-Br).

In comparison with the same period last year, the indicator recorded an increase of 0.43% – without seasonal adjustment, the index was negative at -0.73%. In the last 12 months, the economy plunged 3.68% in seasonally adjusted terms, without adjustment the fall is 3.56%.

The Central Bank of Brazil uses the IBC-Br as a way to evaluate economic activity, also one of the metrics it uses to make decisions on the basic interest rate.
