General Price Inflation falls in May, reveals the FGV

General Price Inflation (IGP-10) fell by 1.10% during the first part of May according to the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV).

In April the rate of inflation was -0.76%, while last year the figure was 0.60%.

Among the components of the indicator, the Extended Producer Price Index (IPA) was at -1.74% in May. Intermediate Goods group fell to -0.38% from the previous month of -0.81%. while the raw materials group registered a fall of -5.46%.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.21% in May, down from 0.42% in April. Four of the eight component of the index decreases, most notably the Food group (0.92% to 0.23%). In May, the National Construction Cost Index (INCC) was at -0.02%, the same as the previous month.
