The General Market Price Index (IGP-M) dropped by 0.74% in the first part of April after rising 0.25% in the same period of last month, according to the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV).
The Index, which serves as a reference for the readjustment of contracts, was mainly influenced by a sharp drop in the price of agricultural products, also by a decline in industrial items. For consumers, inflation rose in the period.
The Extended Producer Price Index decreased 1.21% in the first quarter of April, up 0.23% in the same period in March. Agricultural items dropped 0.21%, a decline of 3.11% in the period, while industrial items fell.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased from 0.17% to 0.30%, with five of its eight classes increasing, notably the food group (from -0.19% to 0.41%). Finally, the National Construction Cost Index (INCC) fell 0.14% in the first of April, after a 0.54% increase in the March.
